HORZONTAL or VERTICAL POGO PIN ASSEMBLY MACHINES
MMMsystems has sucessfully developed and delivered both horizontal and vertical machines to companies all over the world. MMMSystems has revolutionaryily reduced the price from $500,000 to $50,000 per machine. The machines are designed around a very low cost and very high performance solenoids. A sapphire V orifice makes the highest quality top roll in the industry. The size of the dimple crimp tool is reduced from a very expensive very large table top to a one inch square with a three inch long four bar linkage. The QUBLOC microprocessor is used to drive all functions of the machine including solenoids, stepper motors, air valves, fiber optic detectors, counters, etc.
HORZONTAL POGO PIN MACHINE
The photo above is the horizontal automated test probe assembly machine that has produced over 10,00,000 0.5 mm pitch pogo pins. A magazine slides and drops the Device Under Test (DUT) plunger, spring, interface plunger, and barrel into a horizontal troth. The troth has a small troth in the bottom of the troth to keep the parts in a straight line to prevent them from becoming kittywoble and jaming in the fixture. These parts are then covered in the troth when the magazine returns to load up more parts. Then a spring loaded loaded hypo tube pushes the parts together into the crimp guide block. Then the barrel either gets dimple crimped or top roll formed to complete the assembly. A sapphire V orifice stop is retracted so the spring loaded push rod spits the assembled part out of the machine. The location of the sapphire V orifice is calibrated to precisely locate the dimple crimp. The same machine has also produced 0.4 milimieter pitch spring probes using a smaller hole in the crimp guide block.
The photo below is the basic function of the vertical automatic test probe pogo pin crimp or top role assembly machine mounted inside a clean room booth. The basic machine has additional fixturing for automatically feeding parts. There is also a side roll scissor mechanism for making bead roll forms.
